July 15, 2011, Hong Kong - Procter & Gamble (P&G) is voluntarily recalling certain types of Oral-B mouthwash in Hong Kong.

The product names being recalled are:

·      Oral-B Anticavity Fluoride Rinse Alcohol Free 500 ml

·      Oral-B Tooth and Gum Care Mouth Rinse Alcohol Free 60 ml/ 500ml/ 750ml

Expire Dates

July 1, 2011 – Jun 30, 2013

The company said it is taking this precautionary step after detecting out of specification microbial levels in some products produced at one of its contract manufacturing facilities.

P&G is removing all affected product from store shelves, and has informed Hong Kong Customs and Excise Department.

If present, the microbial level poses virtually no risk to healthy people. However, people with severely weakened immune systems, such as those with cystic fibrosis may be more susceptible to adverse health effects.

Consumers should discard the affected product and contact P&G via the number below for a refund by August 14, 2011.

Procedure for Product Recall:

1. Hong Kong consumers please contact Oral-B Hong Kong Consumer Services Toll-Free Number at 800-969-688. Operation hour is Monday to Friday, from 9:00--17:00. (Macau consumers please contact Macau Consumers Services Toll-Free Number: 0-800-287) Consumer services officer will record your contact details and quantity of products to be returned, and confirm the refund amount with you. We will also schedule a time to retrieve the products. You will be provided with the cash refund at the same time. The personal information collected is only for this product refund purpose and will not be used for other purposes.

2. When the courier delivers the refund, you are required to sign a withdrawal confirmation to acknowledge receipt of the refund. The courier will collect it from you.


1. Refund should be acknowledged by the claimant in person. If you would like to authorize a third party for acknowledgement, please click here to download the authorization letter. Please complete and submit it to the courier during refund. Once you (or a third party appointed by you) confirm the quantity of products and the refund amount by acknowledging the receipt, the Company will not be responsible for any discrepancy reported afterwards.

2. If the amount of products returned on the spot is not in accordance with the amount told to consumer services officer, courier cannot proceed with refund. Please re-register.
